There is a Total Fire Ban today Thursday 8 January that includes Falls Creek. There is also a TFB for tomorrow, Friday 9 January but weather conditions may be even more dangerous and there is a possibility that a Catastrophic fire danger (Code Red) may be announced
In the event that a Catastrophic fire danger is announced for Falls Creek, the resort will be closed, including all trails and facilities. In this case the lodge will also be closed and you are advised to leave the resort early. If the advice is Prepare to Leave or less urgent then you should clean your rooms and common areas as usual. If evacuation is more urgent, please advise the booking officer (0409 417 253) of what cleaning could not be completed.
You should use the Vic Emergency app (or their website) to monitor warning levels. In particular do not leave if the advice is that it is too late to leave. Resort management has designated Shelter in Place locations at FCAR Administration Office Board Room (Primary), Slalom Plaza & Rocky Valley Dam shore line. If it is too late to leave then you should make your way to a Shelter-in Place location and advise the booking officer, and Falls Creek Alpine Resort staff, that you are still in the resort.
If you are booked to come to the lodge on Friday 9 Jan, please monitor the Vic Emergency app or website. Do not attempt to enter the resort if a Catastrophic warning is in force.
Apologies for the inconvenience but your safety is our most important consideration. If a Catastrophic warning is announced, the booking officer will be able to advise when normal lodge operation can resume.
