AAC Falls Creek is part of Australian Alpine Club

Why are we introducing 2FA?

The internet has brought us many advantages but it has also become another avenue for uncrupulous and even criminal types to to attack us. AAC, both nationally and our Falls Creek club, are tightening security practices to protect our members and our club operations.

For some years our booking system administrators have had to use 2 Factor Authentication when accessing the booking system. This is to protect financial data and member privacy. The time has come to extend this to all members. 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) simply means that you need to provide 2 different things to be allowed to do something online. Typically this is something you know (eg a password) and something you have (eg access to your email or mobile phone). You probably use 2 Factor Authtication when you bank online or use other online facilities with personal or financial information.

What’s happening?

Now, when you log on to the booking system you will also need a password and a verification code. You can choose whether the code goes to the email address or mobile phone that is registered in the booking system, or uses an authenticator app.

Every time you log in you will now need to use the password and also a verification code. By default the code will be sent to the email address recorded in the booking system. You can also go to Login Security settings in the Members menu of the booking system to choose SMS or an authenticator app as your preferred method of receiving the verification code.

We recommend that you set your password and test your logon ahead of needing to make any payments or bookings.

Please note that before logging on to a different AAC club’s booking system, you must have already set a password on your own club’s booking system.
